At the final rally of what she said was her last campaign, presidential candidate Miriam Defensor-Santiago kept her supporters’ spirits up, urging them to zealously guard their votes on Monday.
She said she was again counting on the youth to pull off an upset despite her lagging survey rankings.
“We should guard our [votes] zealously after Monday because Bongbong (Marcos) and I might win in the voting but we might lose in the counting,” she said at the street party her youth volunteers organized Saturday night outside her headquarters in West Triangle, Quezon City.
“You represent 20 million young voters or 40 percent of the 54 million total voters. United, our numbers are enough to take us to Malacañang,” she said.
Her words echoed her continuing belief that she won in the voting in 1992 but lost in the counting to Fidel V. Ramos.
