2 cops, 8 civilians arrested for carrying guns in Cagayan town

TUGUEGARAO CITY—Police on Sunday arrested 10 men, including two police officers, after they were caught carrying guns in Gattaran town.

Policemen chased a Toyota Innova SUV and a Hyundai Grace van after their passengers were implicated in the strafing of a house in Barangay Naddungan in Gattaran at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday.


Cornered, the SUV’s passengers, PO3 Desmond Garcia and Mark Andam Domingo, surrendered. They were carrying an M16 Armalite rifle and a .45 caliber pistol.

The passengers of the van, however, refused to leave their vehicles.


But PO3 Ferdinand Betriolo, Roberto Bendicio, Joie Materum, Ray Galinato, Romualdo Cabaniza, Lope Marcos, Elmer Eugenio, and Reny Borquillo surrendered to the police at about 9 a.m. on Sunday.

The van yielded two M16 rifles and six pistols. JE/rga
