CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – A mayoral candidate in Lantapan, Bukidnon was shot dead by still unidentified suspects early Saturday morning, police said.
Police identified the victim as Armando Ceballos, a resident of Barangay Balila in Lantapan.
Ceballos is an independent candidate and was pitted against Ernie Devibar of the Bukidnon Paglaum Party (BPP).
Supt. Surki Sereñas, spokesperson of the Northern Mindanao police, said based on initial investigation, around 10 masked armed men barged into Ceballos’ home and shot him several times.
Recovered from the crime scene were spent shells from M16 and M14 rifles.
Sereñas said although Ceballos was a candidate, the police have yet to determine if his killing was election-related. CDG
