DAVAO CITY — President Benigno Aquino III’s call to candidates shadowing front-runner Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte to unite was a desperate move of the administration, said vice presidential aspirant Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Friday.

“The desperation is showing. These are all desperate attempts of the administration … I also heard that Sen. Grace Poe turned down the offer so again, maliwang na naghahanap sila ng paraan na baguhin ang resulta (it’s clear they are finding ways to change the result),” he told reporters in a press briefing.

Administration standard-bearer Mar Roxas reached out to Poe on Friday, through a press conference, for them to unite against a “looming dictatorship,” without referring to Duterte. Poe said she has no intentions of backing out from the race.

Earlier in the day, Marcos bared a supposed “Plan B” of the administration to manipulate the elections by making his rival Rep. Leni Robredo win. If she is elected, there would be moves to impeach Duterte and the current administration will remain in power.

The information on the plot was shared by a source from the Liberal Party, the senator said.

“Sila mismo alam nila na wala na silang panalo (They know that they won’t win). That’s why there’s a Plan B and they’re trying to make alliances,” Marcos said.

He said it was obvious that the administration does not want him to be vice president so they could impeach Duterte eventually.

“I suppose the best way to safeguard Mayor Duterte is to have me as his VP dahil siguro hindi siya tatanggalin dahil ako ang papalit sa kanya (probably they won’t remove him because I’ll be the one who will replace him),” he said. TVJ
