Liberal Party standard-bearer Manuel “Mar” Roxas II on Friday called on Senator Grace Poe to meet with him, implying that “decent” leaders should sacrifice their political careers to thwart a “looming dictatorship.”
“Uncertainty and a specter of dictatorship are looming over our country once again,” Roxas said in a hastily called press briefing at the LP Balay Headquarters in Quezon City on Friday.
“I call for unity. I call for decency. I call for democracy. I call for the rule of law. I call on Senator Grace Poe, Grace, mag-usap tayo (let’s talk). I will adjust schedules to your convenience. Sabihin mo lang kung saan at kailan at darating ako (Just tell me where and when and I will come),” said Roxas.
Although Roxas did not mention Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, the current survey frontrunner, in his message, he warned that the country is facing “the possibility of a leader coming to power who cares for nothing about honesty, integrity, transparency, responsibility or even just basic decency.”
“This is for unity. This is for our country and this is for our future,” Roxas added.
