Broadcast network TV5 on Friday clarified that it did not air the controversial political advertisement against presidential frontrunner Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.
“TV5 Network would like to correct speculations that it was among the broadcast stations that aired the negative political advertisement against Mayor Rodrigo Duterte,” the network said in a statement.

TV5 made the clarification after supporters of the feisty Davao City mayor cried foul at broadcast stations for airing negative ads against their candidate.
The 30-second ad, which first aired on ABS-CBN Thursday night, featured clips of Duterte’s controversial remarks and profanity-laced speeches, with children asking the public whether they wanted someone like the tough-talking mayor to be the next president. The ad was paid for by vice presidential aspirant Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV.

Without elaborating, TV5 said it did not air the advertisement due to certain unmet requirements.
“The particular political advertisement was not aired by TV5, because there [were] certain requirements that were not complied with. The decision not to air was brought by this reason,” the statement read.
The network added that it “does not, in any way, discriminate against or favor any political candidate or party.”
In a statement, ABS-CBN said it had nothing to do with the production of the ad, and that it was “duty-bound to air a legitimate ad” in accordance to guidelines of the Commission on Elections. CDG/rga
