TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines—Vice presidential aspirant Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Friday warned of what claimed was a “Plan B” of the administration to cheat in the  May 9 national elections.

“Meron daw ang Liberal [Party] na tinatawag na Plan B,” he told reporters in a press briefing here.

(The Liberal Party reportedly has a “Plan B.”)

The senator is in Tacloban, his mother’s hometown, to make his final campaign. He visited Cavite earlier in the day and is set to go to Davao in the afternoon.

Marcos claimed that the administration has given up on its presidential candidate Manuel “Mar” Roxas II to win and is now relying on its vice presidential candidate Camarines Sur Rep. Ma. Leonor “Leni” Robredo to keep them in power.

“Pipilitin nilang maging vice si Robredo pagkatapos kung manalo si [Davao City Mayor Rodrigo] Duterte, he will be impeached o basta tanggalin sa pwesto para LP pa rin ang pangulo,” Marcos said.

(They will ensure that Robredo wins the vice presidency and if Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte wins, he will be impeached or will be removed from the post so that an LP [member] assumes the presidency.)

The senator claimed the members of the administration are afraid to be put in jail for its wrongdoings in the past six years.

“I’m not sure if this is the official LP plan but for sure may mga Liberal na ito ang iniisip (there are Liberal [members] who are thinking of this),” he said.

Marcos also questioned the latest results of commercial surveys where he is in statistical tie with Robredo, and said it was an obvious attempt to condition the minds of the people.

With the possibilities of cheating in the elections and the reported discrepancies of receipts in overseas absentee voting, he also made a repeated call on the people to be vigilant and protect their ballot. RAM/rga
