NAGA CITY, Camarines Sur — A young husband and his younger brother are now facing a murder charge for hacking to death his wife’s supposed lover in the town of Sagñay, Camarines Sur last Thursday May 19.
Police Officer 2 Dave John de Quiroz, chief investigator of Sagñay Municipal Police Station, said that the victim Joven Tadeo, 34, a resident of Sitio (sub-village) Bolo, Barangay (village) Tinorongan, Sagñay, Camarines Sur was barely recognizable due to multiple hack wounds that almost broke-off one of his hands from his body after brothers Eddie and Joel Casimero, 35 and 28 years old, respectively, hacked him to death Tuesday at around 7:30.
De Quiroz stated, quoting from the statement of witness Bernabe Dimaiwat who was lounging at his father-in-law’s house during the incident, that the victim was last seen running away from the brothers who were both wielding bolos (machete) at Tadeo.
Dimaiwat witnessed the trio as they rounded the property until they ended up at the backyard where he heard the Casimeros shouting as they cornered Tadeo.
The witness confirmed that he heard what seemed like hacking noises as suspect Eddie Casimero yelled at his brother, “Ika na bahala diyan. May tama ako! (Take care of that. I’m hurt!)”
Dimaiwat immediately went into the house to get a flashlight and followed the three men to see whatever the commotion was about.
De Quiroz said that the Casimero brothers immediately fled the scene even before Dimaiwat found the victim’s body.
Eddie Casimero was arrested shortly after the incident in the nearby hospital after he sought medical assistance for a wound accidentally inflicted upon him by his brother Joel.
Jealousy was the most likely motive of the crime, according to de Quiroz.
“Casimero (Eddie) said that the victim and his wife were lovers for almost two years now,” de Quiroz confirmed. “They had been seeing each other for almost two years now. Casimero said that he caught them having sex once in a place he didn’t disclose after a long time of following the lovers’ whereabouts.”
De Quiroz verified that they have already filed a case of murder against the Casimero brothers. A manhunt operation was also launched at the same time to find Joel Casimero who remains at large as of now.
