The house of a Caloocan barangay councilor—a staunch supporter of Rep. Recom Echiverri who is running for city mayor—was strafed by three unidentified suspects on Tuesday evening.
Dolores Asistio, a barangay councilor since 2002, said that three people on two motorcycles fired four times at her house on Pitong Bahay Street, Maligaya Park Subdivision, Barangay 177 at 8:20 p.m., shortly after she left for a meeting.
Fortunately, only two of the 9-mm bullets found a mark, hitting just the gate while the rest missed. None of the 15 people inside the house, among them Asistio’s children and grandchildren, were injured.
SPO4 Renato Florentino said that witnesses described one of the motorcycle drivers as a woman. Her companions, both male, were on another motorcycle. All three wore helmets and masks.
Asistio is one of the leaders of the Recom for Congressman movement which is now helping him campaign for the mayoralty. The group has 4,000 members.
Asistio said that she never received any threats before Tuesday’s incident. She described the shooting, however, as politically-motivated.
