ILOILO CITY – As his numbers continue to rise in the surveys, Liberal Party standard-bearer Mar Roxas said the momentum is with him and believes he would continue to have it until Election Day.
“I think the public itself is saying who they prefer. The momentum is with us… The ground is shifting in our favor,” he told reporters in an interview.
In the latest Pulse Asia survey, Roxas overtook Vice President Jejomar Binay and virtually tied with Senator Grace Poe at second place with 20 percent and 22 percent, respectively. Duterte, meanwhile, maintained his lead with 33 percent.
“If you will recall, in the beginning, they said we do not have a chance. Ngayon, naunahan na natin ’yung dating nangunguna. Ngayon, pantay na tayo sa pang-pangalawa sa race na ito,” he said.
With the improvement of his survey ratings, Roxas said he feels “very confident.” “I feel very serene. I feel very comfortable,” he added.
Roxas attributed the rise to their growing support base collectively called “The Silent Majority” composed of private citizens who came together to campaign for the administration presidential bet and his running mate Leni Robredo.

“We did not pay them. They’re not part of a political party. These are independent people who chose Mar Roxas and Leni Robredo,” he said.
In the last seven days before the Election Day, Roxas said he will take his campaign to a higher level so that come May 9 and “Mar Roxas will win.”
“Monday, you’re going to see several steps. And then Tuesday, we’re going to rev that up. Then Wednesday, lalo pang titindi yan, lalo pang papainitin yan. Pagdating ng Lunes muli, panalo si Mar Roxas,” he said in a previous interview at the LP headquarters on Monday.
Roxas said the “Daang Matuwid” coalition, which pushes for the continuation of the gains of the Aquino administration, remains solid and is continuously growing as the election nears.
On Tuesday, the candidates of the ruling LP brought their campaign to Iloilo City, considered the bailiwick of the party and Roxas, a native of Capiz.
President Benigno Aquino III joined the administration tandem and coalition candidates in the Iloilo sortie.
