CEBU CITY — President Aquino, along with Liberal Party standard bearer Mar Roxas and running mate Leni Robredo, met with Jaro Archbishop Angel Lagdameo in Iloilo Tuesday afternoon.
The meeting at the Archbishop’s residence in Jaro District was held just a few hours before a miting de avance for LP candidates in Iloilo City.
Also at the meeting was Senate President Franklin Drilon, Iloilo City Rep. Jerry Treñas said.
Iloilo City is among the areas considered bailiwicks of the LP and Roxas.
Lagdameo is a former president of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines.
The influencial Catholic Church does not endorse any candidate during elections.
Mr. Aquino proceeded to the Sarabia Manor Hotel for the national launching ceremony of the expanded human papillomavirus vaccination program of the Department of Health.
He will attend the LP rally along with Roxas and Robredo and other LP leaders later in the evening. SFM/rga
