A total of 1,731 out of 6,605 examineest passed the 2015 bar examination, Supreme Court Associate Justice Teresita Leonardo de Castro announced on Tuesday.
That is equivalent to 26.21 percent of the exam takers.
The passing rate is the the sixth highest since 2001 which had a 32.89 percent passing rate, followed by 31. 95 percent in 2011, 31.61 percent in 2004, 30.60 percent in 2006 and 27.22 percent in 2005.
Over 6,600 out of 7,146 examinees managed to complete the four-Sunday examination held at the University of Santo Tomas that started Nov. 4, 2015.
The number of law graduates admitted to take the 114th bar exam is the biggest in the last four years, high court records showed.
Last year, the Office of the Bar Confidant said a total of 6,370 law graduates applied for the 2014 bar exams, or an increase of 729 from the previous year’s application.
But of the 6,370 applications, only 6,344 were admitted to take the exam, of whom only 5, 996 showed up for the first Sunday of the exam.
In the course of the four Sundays of the exams, the numbers were trimmed down to 5, 984.
Out of the 5,984, the OBC said 1,126 passed the 2014 bar exams for a passing rate of 18.82 percent. IDL/rga
