INDEPENDENT vice presidential candidate Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero has received the endorsement of the Makabansang Unifikasyon ng Guardians, Inc. (MUG), a grassroots organization fighting to alleviate the plight of the poor, for having the clearest antipoverty platform.

MUG is the umbrella organization of all Guardians Brotherhood associations in the Philippines with chapters in various countries around the world. Its membership is estimated at around 11 million,  mostly active and retired police and military personnel.

Among the group’s advisers are former Philippine National Police Chief Avelino Razon Jr., and retired PNP General and former Customs Deputy Commissioner Danilo Lim, who is also the national chair of the Reformed Armed Forces Movement.

Alex Quillope, chair of MUG’s board of governors, said they chose Escudero because he has the “clearest antipoverty platform” among the candidates for the second highest post in the land.
