MANILA — The body of Jerome Tipon of the Alab Sagwan dragonboat team was retrieved near the breakwater in Manila Bay on Sunday (May 1) morning.
Inspector Rommel Anicete of the Manila Police District homicide section said Tipon’s body was retrieved at 3:45 a.m., Sunday, by members of the Philippine Coast Guard.
Tipon was among the dragon boat members whose boat capsized in Manila Bay on Saturday morning.
The rest of his 21 co-team members were able to surface except him.
Anicete said members of the Coast Guard searched for his body the whole day on Saturday until the body was recovered on Sunday.
Anicete said the part where Tipon was recovered was so murky.
His body was immediately claimed by his relatives. SFM
