Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV on Saturday said he felt vindicated after Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte’s admission regarding the contents of his Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) account on Julia Vargas Avenue in Pasig City

“I feel vindicated by Duterte’s admission that he has 200M pesos in his accounts. But most importantly, it’s time to shatter Duterte’s fraudulent image of being simple, honest and incorruptible,” Trillanes said in statement.

Duterte, however, only admitted that he has “a little less than a million” in his BPI-Julia Vargas account and on Friday remained firm in saying that the accusations of Trillanes that he has over 200 million in his BPI account in Julia Vargas branch were merely fabricated.

Trillanes, a vice presidential candidate, earlier said Duterte had at least P227 million—not P211 million as earlier reported—in an account at a bank branch in Metro Manila in 2014.

He said the tough-talking local executive did not declare the P227 million in his statement of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALN).

“He actually is as corrupt as the Binays. Worse, he is a psychopath and a confessed murderer,” Trillanes said.

The senator earlier dared Duterte to meet him on Monday at the Julia Vargas branch of BPI to sign a waiver allowing the opening his bank account.

Duterte has accepted the challenge, saying he would allow the opening of the records through his lawyer Salvador Panelo.

The survey front-runner said he won’t be able to make it to the BPI Julia Vargas Branch since he will be in Davao City on Monday.

He, however, expects Trillanes to be present there on Monday.

He said Trillanes should be there with an affidavit detailing how, when, where and for what purpose he obtained the bank information. CDG
