Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV said he would demand “the transaction history for the past nine years” of Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte’s bank account when he meets the latter’s lawyer on Monday.

“I was informed that Mayor Duterte would be represented by Atty. [Salvador] Panelo during Monday’s visit to BPI Julia Vargas branch,” Trillanes said in a statement on Friday, referring to the Bank of the Philippine Islands Julia Vargas branch in Pasig City.

“But just to be clear, the opening of the accounts should not be limited to the current account balance alone. It should also include the transaction history for the past nine years,” Trillanes added.

“This is important because, if Duterte has already withdrawn the money before Monday, then the total amount of transactions would not be reflected on the current account balance,” said the senator, who is running for vice president.

Trillanes earlier revealed that the mayor had at least P227 million in his BPI account in 2014 but did not declare it in his statement of assets, liabilities and net worth.

He also said that transactions amounting to P2.407 billion and involving 17 accounts of Duterte in three banks—two in Metro Manila and one in Davao—were recorded from 2006 to 2015.

To prove his allegations, Trillanes challenged Duterte not only to issue a waiver allowing the opening of his accounts but also to meet him at the bank branch.

Trillanes promised to resign from the Senate and withdraw from the vice presidential race if proven wrong. RC/rga
