The Malabon City prosecutor’s office has approved the filing of frustrated murder charges against two suspects in the shooting of a Public Attorney’s Office (PAO) director last week.
Prosecution Attorney William Reynon Jr. recommended bail at P200,000 each for Ramon Santos and his nephew Reybert Salao, suspects in the shooting of Marlon Buan, PAO director for the National Capital Region, at their family compound in Barangay Baritan, Malabon, on the night of April 22.
Santos is the victim’s uncle-in-law (not father-in-law as earlier described in the police report) who exchanged fire with the 45-year-old Buan over a long-standing family feud.
Buan sustained multiple gunshot wounds in the body, while Santos and Salao were hit in the foot and remained under “hospital arrest” at UST Hospital as of Wednesday, according to the city police chief, Senior Supt. Severino Abad.
Five more persons—Tubby Salao, Jimmy Marcelo, Michael Villarin, a certain Joaquin and Edmer—are facing investigation for their alleged participation in the attack.
