Aquino on top of problems, campaign, says Palace

PALACE officials on Sunday defended President Aquino from critics who said he was remiss in addressing the problems brought on by El Niño.

Instead, the militant group Bayan had charged, Mr. Aquino chose to focus his time and energies on the campaign of Liberal Party standard bearer Mar Roxas and other administration candidates.

Communication Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. assured the group the President’s priority was the welfare of the country and the people.

In a government radio interview, Coloma said the Cabinet had implemented the El Niño mitigation program to address the drought in the countryside.

“On the President’s joining the campaign, he believes it’s his responsibility to ensure that his reform programs will continue,” Coloma said.
