Presidential candidate and Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte on Sunday reiterated his promise that he would not declare martial law if he wins in the May elections.
During the third and final presidential debate in Pangasinan, Duterte was asked if he would declare martial law.
The tough-talking mayor said “only rebellion and lawless violence” would prompt him to do so.
However, he said, the present situation of the country did not warrant a martial law declaration.
Asked about his stand on the burial of dictator Ferdinand Marcos at Libingan ng mga Bayani, Duterte also reiterated his previous approval for a hero’s burial for the strongman.
Duterte said he would be a healing president once he assumes his post. RC
