Duterte boasts of promoting women rights

Poe, Duterte face off on women's rights

RIVAL presidential candidates Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte and Senator Grace Poe faced off during the third and final presidential debate over the welfare of women.

Poe asked Duterte how he would protect women under his administration if he wins the presidency.

The tough-talking local executive said Davao City is the first to come up with a women’s code.

He boasted pro-women measures that he implemented in Davao City such as  prohibition for women to wear swimsuit during the Mutya ng Davao.

He also cited how women could roam freely in Davao City even at night.

He said he would duplicate this in the country should he win in the elections.

“Ang babae dun hindi natatakot kung saan mamasyal,” he said.

But Poe grilled him, citing his frequent cussing and using women as objects in his jokes.

Duterte defended himself, narrating his rape remarks, where he was heavily criticized. He said it was a narration and not a joke.

“I am I. You are you,” Duterte said.
