Duterte camp ‘humbled’ by sustained rise in surveys

The camp of Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte is chastened by his steady rise in pre-election surveys.

“We are humbled by the continuing rise of Duterte in surveys in spite of the all the garbage thrown against him,” Peter Laviña, Duterte’s spokesman, said.

“This only proves that the Filipinos from all classes are clamoring for genuine change,” Laviña added.

In the latest Pulse Asia Survey commissioned by ABS-CBN, Duterte got 34 percent of voters’ preference compared to his closest rival Sen. Grace Poe, who only had 22 percent. The tough-talking mayor now enjoys a 12 point lead just less than three weeks before election day.

Laviña said the 12-point lead of Duterte “inspires us to work even harder to frustrate last ditch efforts by the ‘trapos’ to stop the advance and victory of our people.”

The survey was released hours before the third and final presidential debate in Pangasinan. JE
