Poe camp slams attack on her husband

/ 03:50 AM April 24, 2016

THE CAMP of Sen. Grace Poe on Saturday assailed the reported plan of the lawyer of former Sen. Francisco Tatad to get the Bureau of Immigration to investigate her husband’s status, and possibly deport him.

Lawyer Manuelito Luna reportedly made the threat in a forum, where he alleged that Llamanzares was an American citizen working in the country without a permit.

Llamanzares had worked for San Miguel Corp. as a consultant.

Poe’s spokesperson Rex Gatchalian said Llamanzares was a dual citizen and a natural-born Filipino, having been born to Filipino parents.

Gatchalian said Luna’s allegations were “baseless lies concocted by a troubled mind.”

Luna represented Tatad in his bid to disqualify Poe from the presidential race on issues of citizenship and residency, which the Supreme Court dismissed.

“It’s so sad his political obsession has reached a point where non-candidates are being harassed. Since he did not get what he wanted when he attacked Senator Poe, he is now on a rampage and unfairly harassing her family,” Gatchalian said. Leila B. Salaverria
