Three persons, including a pregnant woman and her unborn child, died after a passenger bus plowed through bystanders, an eatery and a UV express on the corner of Commonwealth and Mindanao Avenues in Quezon City on Friday morning.
John Michael Mallari, 22, a Pampanga resident, died on the spot after a wayward A. Prado bus with plate number UVP 625 rammed into the bystanders as it turned left to Commonwealth Avenue, Radyo Inquirer 990 AM reported.
The bus, which came from Fairview, also hit a UV Express bearing plate number UVR 695 and an eatery on the corner of the intersection.
Another fatality was Christine San Felipe, who was six months pregnant, was declared dead on arrival at Fairview General Hospital. Felipe’s unborn baby also died in the hospital.
Mark Joey Isidera, the driver of the bus, was unhurt and later turned himself in to the police.
According to SPO1 Rabindranath Sierra, people saw the bus changing lanes as if it had lost control before it turned left on Commonwealth Avenue.
Other victims, mostly bystanders, who sustained injuries were brought to Commonwealth General Hospital for treatment. IDL
