Court convicts Korean of estafa

A CEBU City court convicted a Korean car dealer of estafa after he sold a stolen vehicle to a fellow Korean.

Kim Se Wong was found guilty of duping   Kim Wang Seok into buying a  Mercedes Benz   for P1.5 million.

Regional Trial Court Judge Gilbert Moises of Branch 18 sentenced  Wong to   20 years  imprisonment and ordered him to pay Seok P1.5 million in damages.

Seok said he bought the luxury vehicle on Oct. 25, 2007.

Seok said Wong claimed to be the owner of the car with plate number YFK 841.

The vehicle was registered to a certain  Ericka Hidalgo, whom Wong said  sold to him the vehicle  earlier.

The sale was made but the vehicle was later seized by the PNP Traffic Management Group.

NBI agents arrested Wong, who posted bail but did not attend court hearings./ADOR VINCENT S. MAYOL
