KARACHI—Two sisters, both minors, and their eight-year-old male paternal cousin were found strangled in the girls’ home in Orangi Town on Tuesday, officials said. Orangi Town is in the northwestern part of Karachi, about 7.03 km by car, according to needfinder website.
The police added that eight-year-old Afra, her 10-year-old sister Nimra and eight-year-old cousin Mohammed Ali were found dead on the ground and the first floors of the 120-yard house in Orangi Town Sector 10.
“The deceased boy Ali lived in the same street and had come to the home of his uncle, Mohammed Sharifuddin, as usual to play with his female cousins in the evening,” said Inspector Sabir Khattak, the SHO of the Mominabad police station.
“Mr Sharifuddin says that when he returned home from his catering shop he found two girls dead on the ground and the boy on first floors. He said that the mother of the two girls and his wife had gone to market when the incident occurred.”
Although the police were not sure about the motive and the people behind the triple murder, they described the incident as mysterious in a sense that the killings were not a result of any robbery or a burglary attempt.
“Apparently they [children] were strangled,” said Mominabad SHO Inspector Khattak.
“We have moved the bodies to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities. The statements of the families and witnesses are being recorded. Sharifuddin and his brother Naseeruddin — who is the father of deceased boy Ali — lived in the same street and their houses are situated at short distance.
“We are very much sure that they are deliberate murders and not a job of one person. I am very much confident that things will become clear within the next 24 hours.” TVJ
