DSWD to hold forum on enrollment to poverty-reduction program
THE Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDSS) program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development will hold an enrollment forum for local government units from May 23 to 27 at the GV hotel in Cebu City.
Dubbed “Building communities of practice on community-driven development (CDD) for good local governance,” the forum will be participated by officials and department heads from targeted municipalities in the Central Visayas and other stakeholders.
It will discuss the conditions and requirements for the municipalities to join the program.
Since its implementation in 2003, the Kalahi-CIDSS has already served 4,583 barangays in 200 municipalities with a poverty level rate of at least 33 percent from all over the country.
In Region 7, the recipients of the program are Danao, Bien Unido, Buenavista, Getafe, Talibon, Ubay, San Miguel, Carmen, Pilar, Mabini, Carlos P. Garcia and Trinidad in Bohol, and Siquijor and Enrique Villanueva in Siquijor.
The Kalahi-CIDSS will return to these 14 towns for one more round of implementation this year using the community-driven development-local planning process harmonization initiative.
The Kalahi-CIDSS works to minimize poverty using the CDD approach where the communities are taught how to select, design and implement sub-projects.
These sub-projects are farm-to-market roads, school buildings, potable waterworks systems, electrification and day care centers.
