Roxas, Robredo campaign in Yolanda-stricken towns of Leyte
PALO, Leyte – Liberal Party bets Manuel “Mar” Roxas II and Leni Robredo took their campaign to the province of Leyte on Wednesday to woo the voters here.
Together with the senatorial candidates from the “Daang Matuwid” coalition, Roxas and Robredo will visit the towns of Palo, Barugo and Ormoc, which were among the areas that bore the brunt of Super typhoon Yolanda that hit Western Visayas in 2013.
The administration-backed coalition, however, will not visit Tacloban City, the city hardest-hit by the typhoon that killed more than 6,000 individuals.
Rivals and critics of Roxas are lambasting the former Interior secretary for his alleged mishandling of the Yolanda rehabilitation, saying that the disaster exposed his failure as a leader and manager.
But despite the continuous attacks against Roxas on Yolanda, the Capiz native remains the top choice of voters in Visayas based on poll surveys since the start of the campaign period.
