A magnitude 5 earthquake rattled Davao Oriental early Wednesday with aftershocks expected, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The tremor’s epicenter was 16 kilometers northeast of Cateel. It was recorded at 1:17 a.m.
The tectonic quake had a depth of 102 kilometers.
Intensity IV was felt in Surigao de Sur and Intensity II was recorded in Cagayan de Oro City.
There was no immediate damage recorded from the quake, Phivolcs said.
