Trillo happy with former players

CEBUANA LHUILLIER may have lost several of their key cogs from last year’s squad which reached the finals but head coach Luigi Trillo is happy for his former players who are now plying their trade in the pros.

Allein Maliksi, the most valuable player of the PBA D-League’s inaugural tournament, is gone and so are Ariel Mepana, James Sena and Chris Canta. The four were teammates at Cebuana Lhuillier, which lost to eventual champion NLEX in the finals of the PBA D-League Foundation Cup. They are now playing for different teams in the pros.

“Our effort to develop players for the PBA is working,” said Trillo.

All in all, the Gems lost 12 players including their Fil-Ams, who have signed up with other teams. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
