MANILA — The children of a Quezon City retiree can now start their own businesses after their father claimed the P22-million jackpot prize he won in the April 7 draw of the Lotto 6/42.

The 75-year-old father of five became the country’s newest multimillionaire after he correctly guessed the lottery game’s winning number combination 23-15-04-07-06-36. As the lone winner, he took home exactly P22,612,748.

Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) Vice Chair and General Manager Jose Ferdinand Rojas II said that the winner, a former office worker in the private sector living off on his pension, would divide his prize among his children so that they could start their own businesses.

The winner also told Rojas when he claimed his prize at the PCSO’s head office in Mandaluyong City, on Monday, that he would donate a portion of his winnings to a local church, while saving the rest for his and his wife’s future needs.

Rojas said that the winner had only been playing the lotto for the last five years when he hit the jackpot prize. He added that the winner paid P120 in tickets and opted for lucky picks, which electronically selected combinations for the player.  SFM
