SAN PEDRO CITY, Laguna — A teacher was killed while five members of his family were wounded after suspected robbers shot them in their house in Alaminos town in Laguna province on Sunday night, police said on Monday.
Insp. Roselle Orate, Laguna provincial police information officer, identified the slain teacher as Ferdinand Diones Pampolina. His relatives, Jasper, Judith, Dina, Gennette, all surnamed Pampolina, and Johna Perez Timabad, survived but remained in critical condition in separate hospitals in Laguna, as of Monday morning.
In a telephone interview, Senior Insp. Reynaldo Vitto, Alaminos police chief, said that initial investigation led the police to robbery as a motive of the attack.
Two men, wearing face masks, entered the victims’ house in Barangay (village) San Benito around 11:30 p.m. Sunday and began shooting them.
“The suspects entered through the house’s back door, which was left open,” said Vitto, adding that the house did not have a gate.
He said after the shooting, Timabad was able to seek help from a village official and policemen who were on patrol at that time.
Ferdinand died while being taken to the provincial hospital in nearby San Pablo City.
The victims’ computer laptop and other electronic gadgets were taken by the robbers, Vitto said. SFM
