MEYCAUAYAN, Bulacan—Actress-TV host Kris Aquino, youngest sister of President Benigno Aquino III, on Friday stepped on the stage to campaign for administration standard-bearer Mar Roxas and running mate Leni Robredo.
Kris’ star power could just be one of the extra push needed by the tandem, especially Roxas, who continues to trail behind voter preference surveys.
“Please do not forget the candidates of P-Noy. I hope that whatever support you have for him in Bulacan in 2010, you will also give Mar Roxas and Leni Robredo in 2016,” Kris said.
With only 23 days to go before election day, Kris vowed to campaign for Roxas and Robredo in every corner of the country.
Wearing a yellow shirt over a pair of denims, Kris again shared details of her family’s personal life to explain why she finally decided to campaign for the tandem of Roxas and Robredo.
Kris, who is on leave from show business due to health concerns, said she and her sons, Joshua and Bimby, have been staying with her brother at his official home, Bahay Pangarap, since Monday.
Throughout the week, she saw how busy President Aquino was—traveling to Tarlac and Mindanao, and juggling his time for all the things he has to attend to as chief executive.
On Thursday night, Kris said, she saw her brother fall asleep on the couch with her sons.
“This morning I talked to my brother and told him that when you were campaigning in 2010, you were able to count on me. I went to every corner of the Philippines for you. Now, so that what you have done can be continued, I will go back to every corner of the country to help Mar Roxas and Leni Robredo,” Kris said.
On stage with Kris were Roxas’ son, Paolo, Robredo’s sister-in-law Dr. Josephine Robredo-Bundoc, and Bulacan local officials.
It was Kris who introduced her brother before he took the stage.
