Poe turns to prayer as elections loom

PILI, Camarines Sur—Presidential aspirant Sen. Grace Poe is now holding on to prayers as the campaign enters the homestretch.

“Buhos ng dasal,” Poe told Manila-based reporters on Friday when asked where she would focus on three weeks before the May 9 elections.

“Nandoon nga ako sa St. Jude kahapon e. Santo ng mga imposible,” Poe said of the visit she made yesterday at the National Shrine of Saint Jude Thaddeus in Manila, which is located near Malacañang.

Jude the Apostle is known as the patron saint of lost causes, of hope and the impossible.

“Lahat kami talaga ngayon parang karera ’to ng kabayo na talagang sa puntong finish na talaga tayo,” Poe said.

“Basta ako naman ay ginawa ko lahat ng aking makakaya. Sabi ko nga ang laban na ito ay para mawakasan na ang kahirapan, ’yan ang kinakalaban ko.”

She reiterated that she would respect the decision of the people, saying they experienced this in 2004.

Poe was referring to the presidential run of her father, the late action king Fernando Poe Jr., who lost to now Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

“Ngayon gagalangin ko palagi kung ano ang boses ng ating mga kababayan sapagkat pinagdaanan na namin noong 2004 sa aking ama,” she said.

“Basta igalang natin,” Poe added.

Poe was dislodged by Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte from the top spot in the latest pre-election surveys. RC
