CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan — A suspected gun for hire who has been linked to a group of car thieves, and his companion, were killed in a Tuesday evening gun battle with the police at the Doña Remedios Trinidad (DRT) town in Bulacan.

Panfilo Mondares fired at chasing police officers after he and his still unidentified motorcycle driver refused to stop and drove through a police checkpoint in Barangay (village) Sampalok,  said Chief Supt. Rudy Lacadin, Central Luzon police director.

The police identified Mondares as a hired assassin who allegedly operated in Bulacan and Nueva Ecija.

Recovered from the suspect were a loaded .45-pistol, and a .38-revolver.  SFM
