Win or lose, Poe says she will respect decision of majority

Barely a month before the May 9 elections, presidential candidate Senator Grace Poe is already prepared to accept whatever the decision of the majority of the people.
From the start, Poe said she never considered herself a frontrunner in poll surveys.
“From day one, I’ve always been very wary of surveys. I’ve never considered myself a frontrunner, never, not even when the surveys say so,” she said in an interview with bloggers and digital media in Makati City on Wednesday.
“Why? Because the survey is just one factor. What can determine you being a frontrunner is number one, do you have the resources? Number 2, do you have the political machinery? Number 3, do you also have the stamina?”
So even when the past surveys showed that she was leading the presidential race, Poe said she always thought that it was “precarious” and that no candidate could say that he or she is ahead of anyone.
“What I tell myself is this, I’m going back to the very reason on why I’m running in the first place, win or lose, it’s a privilege to be considered as one of those who can probably help this country,” she said.

“And whatever the decision of the majority will be, I will always respect it… So right or wrong, in my mind, whether or not I feel a candidate is the right candidate or not, once the people have spoken, I will respect that.”
“But at this point, I will just do my best, lay out what my platform is because I really believe that the biggest problem of this country is poverty, that we really need leaders who have the integrity, the energy and also the capability to be able to implement programs quickly but judiciously,” Poe said.
