Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Ronaldo Geron on Monday ordered newly designated intelligence chief to tighten the security and monitoring of all foreign nationals arriving in the country.
Geron issued the directive to Intel Chief Rommel De Leon. Geron said it is important to ensure that persons from countries friendly to ISIS will not use the Philippines as their hiding place and jump off point to their targets.
Meanwhile, De Leon said he will assign more experienced immigration agents in all international airports and seaports to screen arriving foreigners and prevent the entry of suspected terrorists and wanted persons.
Last April 1, the BI apprehended Mark Chin Perez bound for Tel Aviv, Israel.
Geron said Perez refused to divulge his purpose as well as his real Chinese identity.
Upon examination, the BI also discovered that Perez was using a fake passport. JE
