Binay, gov commend Cebuano traders for devt role

CEBU continues to become a “model of modernization” in the Philippines, the country’s number two official said last night.
Vice President Jejomar Binay gave this description of Cebu in his speech in last night’s General Membership Meeting and Induction of Officers of the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI).

Binay, the chamber’s guest of honor, recognized Cebu as a leading business process and outsourcing (BPO) industry that is “miles ahead of its neighbors.”
He lauded Cebu’s business community for helping fuel the province’s growth.

Binay called on the companies to uphold its corporate social responsibility (CSR), saying this is a manifestation of the government’s thrust to promote public and private partnership.

He commended CCCI for raising the bar of excellence of “the Cebu business community.”

Binay left after his speech for a 9 p.m. flight.

Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia also commended the chamber for being the “shining light that casts its beam of hope and shelter” to the Cebuano community.
Garcia cited the chamber’s role in her first year as governor and said she will extend her full support to them in her last term.

She said CCCI was instrumental in helping create and support the first Suroy-Suroy tour program of the province. Correspondent Carmel Loise Matus
