A LEADER who unites, not divides.

That is how Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said of his term as vice president should he be elected as the successor of Vice President Jejomar Binay.

Marcos, during Sunday’s vice presidential debate, said that he will not act as a spare tire and that he would seek the post of Labor secretary in the Cabinet of the next president.

He said that he would stamp out contractualization and end-of-contract.

He also disputed critics who have been pinning him on the sins of the dictatorship led by his father, Ferdinand E. Marcos.

In his closing statement, Marcos said that the country needs a leader who will look into the future not into the past.

“What the country needs now are better leaders, leaders that seek to unite, not to divide. Leaders that look into the future, not in the past,” he said.

During the debate, Marcos found himself at the receiving end of criticisms by his fellow rivals on issues such as political dynasties and human rights abuses.

The three-hour debate was hosted by CNN Philippines and BusinessMirror
