Fire razed a residential area near the Golden Mosque in Quiapo, Manila, radio and online reports said Saturday night.

The Metro Manila Development Authority on its official twitter account said the fire that started late afternoon reached fifth alarm at 6:42 pm.

Quoting the Bureau of Fire Protection Manila District, DZMM reported the fire hit a residential area on Globo de Oro Street, right near the Golden Mosque compound.

Fire out was declared at 10:49 pm, the report said, with around 100 houses affected and an estimated more than P2-million damage.

The cause is still being investigated by authorities but a possible defective electric wiring could have started it, said the report.

No casualty has been reported as of posting.

It is the second time this year that Quiapo has been hit with fire.

In March, which has been declared the Fire Prevention Month, fire razed a residential area on Arlegui Street in Quiapo.
