Intelligence society Mensa has declared a teenager from Perth as Australia’s smartest kid, after attaining a higher IQ than genius scientist Stephen Hawking.
Sharvin Jeyendran, a 14-year-old school-boy from Sacred Heart College, scored an astonishing intelligent quotient (IQ) of 168—eight points higher than the renowned physicist.
The Australian-based network 9news reported on Friday that Jeyendran was naturally smart at a young age, and even started walking and holding normal conversations at just nine months.
“He started talking like a normal child, like how a two- or three-year-olds could speak with proper sentences and grammar,” his mother, Deva, said.
The promising Malaysian-born student, who’s also a talented pianist, has high hopes for his future and intends to put his intelligence to good use.
“When I grow up, I want to be a biological scientist, I want to try find a cure for cancer,’ Jeyendran told 9news.
“I also want to be a marine biologist to explore the seas and also have my own charity for all the poor people in the world,” the child prodigy added.
Despite being recognized as a kid wonder, the young Sharvin lives a typical teenage life who enjoys playing basketball and kicking a soccer ball in his backyard.
His test score has ranked him in the top two percent of intelligent people in the world. Khristian Ibarrola, INQUIRER.NET
