AMMAN—Jordan’s Prime Minister Maaruf Bakhit, whose government has been accused of failing to meet growing demands for reforms, resigned on Monday, a government official said.

“Premier Maaruf Bakhit submitted his resignation today to King Abdullah II,” said the official, who would not be named.

Other sources said the king is expected to name International Court of Justice judge Awn Khasawneh as new prime minister.
