Duterte leads in new Standard poll

DAVAO CITY Mayor Rodrigo Duterte took the lead in the latest The Standard Poll conducted by Laylo Research Strategies.

In the March 26 to April 1 survey, about 30 percent respondents said they will vote for Duterte if the presidential elections were held today.

The tough talking mayor, however, was in a statistical tie with Sen. Grace Poe who got 27 percent.

Trailing Poe was administration bet Manuel “Mar” Roxas II with 21 percent, followed by Vice President Jejomar Binay with 18 percent.  Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago only got 2 percent.

The survey, which had 3,000 respondents, had a margin of error of plus or minus 1.8 percent.

The survey was conducted in 79 provinces, 40 highly-urbanized cities, including all cities in the National Capital Region.

In the vice presidential race, Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero who got a 28 percent voter preference was in a statistical tie with Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr who had 25 percent.

Camarines Sur Representative and administration bet Ma. Leonor “Leni” Robredo had 21 percent while Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano had 15 percent, followed by Senators Antonio Trillanes IV who got 5 percent and Gregorio Honasan II who had 3 percent.
