SUBIC, Zambales — A 15-year-old boy drowned in the coastal water of this town on Monday morning (April 4) after going for a dip, police said.

SO1 Arnel Pomarca, investigator at the Subic police station, said Oscar Asuncion, a resident of Barangay (village) Calapandayan here, had gone swimming to the town’s shoreline with four other children at about 11 a.m.

While swimming, the children noticed that the victim was struggling in the water after jumping from a boat docked in the coastline, Pomarca said.

One of the children rushed to the shore to seek help from a fisherman who sent a boat to rescue the boy.

Pomarca said Asuncion was taken to James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital in Olongapo City but was declared dead on arrival.  SFM
