P20M worth of drugs seized in Quezon City buy-bust

Police operatives on Saturday seized P24 million worth of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) in a buy-bust operation in Quezon City.

Police Chief Supt. Edgardo Gonzales Tinio, director of the Quezon City Police District said at least eight kilograms of shabu were seized from a suspected drug dealer identified as Faisal Omar Matuan inside his car.

Tinio said 39-year old Matuan was arrested by joint operatives of the District Anti-Illegal Drugs Task Group (DAID-SOTG) and District Special Operations Unit (DSOU) along Visayas Avenue in Barangay (village) Vasra at around 9 a.m.

Matuan is a resident of 107-648 C. Palanca St., Quiapo, Manila.

Police Chief Inspector Enrico Figueroa said Matuan was arrested after an operative who posed as buyer managed to buy from him a kilo of shabu worth one million pesos.

Tinio said the transaction was completed inside the vehicle of Matuan, a gray Toyota Altis, with plate number ARA 5216 where in another seven packs of suspected shabu placed on a backpack were recovered.

He said 10 pieces of genuine one thousand peso bills incorporated with nine hundred ninety pieces of boodle money to supplement the one million pesos were also recovered from the suspect.

He said Matuan would be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 200. CDG
