Miriam in search of poll watchers

Presidential candidate Sen. Miriam Defensor- Santiago is looking for volunteers to serve as poll watchers on the May 9 national elections.
The volunteer “must be a believer of Miriam” and “willing to work for free to be part of a solution to the country’s problems,” Santiago’s staff posted on her official Twitter account on Thursday.
The poll watcher must also be a registered voter, able to read and write, and of good moral character.
It is also a requirement that the volunteer has never been convicted of any election crime or offense; not related to the election officer in the polling place, otherwise he or she will be reassigned, and not a government employee.
Santiago, who was diagnosed with advanced (Stage IV) lung cancer in June 2014, is on a break from the election campaign after joining a free clinical trial of a new medication for her illness.
She said late March that the treatment would only take a “short period” and will try to participate on the April 24 debate hosted by the Commission on Elections.

The senator has only made six public appearances since the campaign launch on Feb. 9, mostly in universities where she is popular among students.
Santiago is on her third time to run for president and claims she was cheated on during the 1992 elections. CDG
