The Manila Police District’s Traffic Enforcement Unit (MPD-TEU) on Saturday announced alternate routes for motorists to take on Monday, as some roads in the city would be closed to give way to Mayor Joseph Estrada’s proclamation rally.
Estrada, who is seeking reelection, will hold his rally at Liwasang Bonifacio at 4 p.m. onwards. But the program proper will start as early as 1 p.m.
To be closed starting at 3 p.m. are MacArthur Bridge (southbound) from Plaza Sta. Cruz to Magallanes Drive Extension; both lanes of Magallanes Drive Extension from Postal Road to P. Burgos Avenue; Muello Del Rio (Riverside Drive) from P. Burgos Avenue to A. Soriano Avenue; Quezon Boulevard and A. Mendoza Street (southbound) from Fugoso Street to P. Burgos Avenue fronting Liwasang Bonifacio, and España Boulevard (westbound) from P. Campa Street to Quezon Boulevard.
To avoid inconvenience, motorists can take the following routes:
- All vehicles coming from Rizal Avenue intending to use the southbound lane of McArthur Bridge shall go straight to Dasmariñas Street to point of destination.
- All vehicles from Escolta Street bound for the southbound lane of MacArthur Bridge shall turn left to Plaza Sta. Cruz to point of destination.
- All vehicles coming from Jones Flyover going to Liwasang Bonifacio shall go straight to Jones Bridge to point of destination.
- All vehicles coming from A. Soriano shall make a U-turn going to Anda Circle to their point of destination.
- All vehicles intending to use Quezon Boulevard coming from A. Mendoza Street (Andalucia) shall make a right on Fugoso Street to point of destination.
- All vehicles coming from Quezon City using the stretch of España shall turn right on P. Campa, left on A. Mendoza Street (Andalucia), and right on Fugoso to point of destination.
- All public utility jeepneys/light vehicles coming from España intending to proceed to South Pier Zone shall turn left on Nicanor Reyes then turn right or left on C.M. Recto to point of destination.
