Authorities from the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) on Tuesday have arrested a 24-year-old woman who tried to sneak inside its Maximum Security Compound by posing as a relative of an inmate.

NBP Superintendent Richard Schwarzkopf said the woman admitted that she is a sex worker.
“An investigation is ongoing on this incident,” Schwazkopf said.

During its 24th “Oplan Galugad,” authorities seized television set, cellular phones and chargers, portable DVD, coffee maker and a laptop computer, however, it was old and had broken down. Several bladed weapons were also recovered but there were no illegal drugs and firearms found.
The raid was conducted by 130 Bureau of Corrections personnel that started at 5 a.m. and ended at 9 a.m.

The said raid targeted Building 6 of the NBP’s Maximum Security Compound which houses members of the Samar Leyte Gang, Oxo Gang and the Bicol Region Masbate Gang.

Schwarzkopf said they also demolished a two-storey “kubol” located at the back of Building 7 of the maximum security compound.

“The kubol was owned by inmate Melchor Ong. We also seized several appliances inside the kubol,” the NBP superintendent added.

Ong was serving time at the national penitentiary after he was convicted of illegal drug charges.

Meanwhile, Schwarzkopf said they will not entertain visitors starting Wednesday until Friday, as part of the security measures for the Holy Week commemoration.

He said the visiting privileges would be restored on Saturday. RAM
