Security guard in apparent suicide try in Zambales engineering office

OLONGAPO CITY, Zambales — A security guard at the Zambales provincial engineering office (PEO) in the capitol town of Iba was in critical condition as of Monday (Mar. 21) after reportedly shooting himself in the head in the morning, police said.

Eduardo Notarte, 56, a resident of Barangay (village) Bamban in Masinloc, Zambales, was found lying on the floor of the PEO comfort room at about 8:20 a.m.


SPO1 Eric R. Dollete, investigator at the Iba police station, said a fellow security guard heard a gunshot fired from inside the toilet and discovered Notarte.

Notarte suffered a gunshot wound in the head. A .38 pistol was discovered beside him, Dollete said.


Notarte, Dollete said, was brought to the President Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Hospital for treatment and is under observation.  SFM
