Cabbie gunned down

A taxi driver was shot dead while waiting for a passenger in barangay Kamagayan, Cebu City at dawn yesterday.

Aguinaldo Lorono, 37, died with two gunshot wounds in the body.

Police said Lorono parked his taxi with plate number ZMM-529 at the side of the road while waiting for a certain Shennel, who was working in a bar.

Lorono’s four friends were seated at the backseat.

Police said a motorcycle with three men on board stopped beside the driver’s seat. One of the backriders drew a gun and shot Lorono several times.

The motorcycle sped off toward barangay Pahina Central after the attack.

One of the victim’s friends drove the taxi to the Cebu City Medical Center where Lorono was declared dead by attending physicians.

The taxi had five bullet holes.
