Math teacher accused of raping Grade 10 student

MANILA — The police are looking for a Mathematics teacher of a public high school in Caloocan City after his Grade 10 student accused him of raping her inside the school library on Tuesday morning, Dagatdagatan, police said.

Fifteen-year-old “Michelle,” not her real name, went to the Caloocan City Police headquarters with her mother, and filed an incident report against Rex Alejandro on Tuesday afternoon, said Senior Police Officer 1 Gigie de Jesus, chief of the Women and Children’s Desk.

A case report filed by Senior Superintendent Bartolome Bustamante, chief of Caloocan Police, stated that Alejandro allegedly brought Michelle to the school library around 10 a.m., and “raped” her. Michelle eventually confided with her aunt and classmates about her ordeal.

The physical and genital examination conducted by the Philippine National Police-Scene of the Crime Operatives of the Northern Police District found a deep-healed laceration with indication of blunt force penetrating trauma to the victim.

The Philippine Daily Inquirer went to the high school on Wednesday afternoon to seek the comment of the school principal, but the latter refused to grant an interview to avoid divulging information that might expose the student to undue public scrutiny.

The school principal, however, assured reporters that the case has been brought to proper authorities — specifically the School’s Division Office of Caloocan — for investigation.

Alejandro, who has been teaching in the high school for more than two years, did not report for work on Wednesday.

De Jesus said the Caloocan Police went to Alejandro’s residence at but did not find him there. Alejandro could not be reached by mobile phone.

Police continue to investigate and do follow-up checks to locate the suspect.  SFM
